The MSA Latchways Sealed Self-Retracting Lifeline 62841-00US is specifically designed for long-range vertical fall protection where conventional self-retracting lifelines may be compromised by moisture, dust, salt spray, or chemical exposure. Its extended 130 ft (40 m) working length makes it ideal for offshore platforms, wind turbines, refineries, storage tanks, and other elevated structures requiring increased vertical mobility.
Unlike standard SRLs, the Sealed Series completely isolates its critical internal components—including the motor spring, braking mechanism, and locking hub—inside a sealed protective chamber. Heavy-duty sealing technology prevents the ingress of dust, seawater, salt deposits, moisture, and corrosive chemical fumes, helping maintain dependable operation even in extreme industrial environments.
The lifeline utilizes a 3/16 in (5 mm) Grade 316 stainless steel cable with a durable 7 × 19 strand construction, delivering outstanding corrosion resistance and long-term durability. Its rugged housing combines cast aluminum and high-grade stainless steel, while the internal chassis is manufactured entirely from stainless steel for maximum structural integrity.
MSA's patented Constant Force® radial energy absorption system provides smooth, frictionless braking without degrading or seizing over time. The advanced Full Contact™ dual-pawl positive locking mechanism delivers rapid engagement during a fall while helping eliminate mechanical lock delays and inconsistent activation.
With an IP69K ingress protection rating, the unit offers one of the industry's highest levels of environmental sealing, protecting internal components from high-pressure, high-temperature washdowns and fine airborne contaminants. The modular internal construction also allows trained personnel to perform field servicing and recertification, reducing downtime and extending product life.
